We struggled to find biblical materials that learners with disabilities could access in the church setting.
RootEd’s ethos is to make high quality curriculum and mentor the teachers who use them.
Meredith Caleb, the founder of RootEd, is a special education teacher and has previously worked in the OVC field. She’s combining these two passions to meet a unique need amongst this population: accessible biblical curriculum across the lifespan and training for those who use it.
RootEd is an online learning platform for Christian teachers, ministry leaders, non-profit leaders, caregivers, and families who want adapted biblical curriculum for their children with disabilities.
Lesson plans, curriculum, and accessible materials for those with disabilities are available here at RootEd. We believe that all persons with disabilities, from child to adulthood, can access the Bible, functional skills, and independence in their communities.
RootEd’s ethos is to make high quality curriculum and mentor the leaders who use them.
Curriculum is handcrafted by special education teachers and experts in the field. Each product includes Biblical stories, visual adaptations, and multi-purpose activities. Every unit includes several levels, adapting the material for nonverbal, nonwriting, or limited functional learners. Drawing from a holistic model of care, curriculum incorporates reading, math, sensory, and functional adaptive skills activities that can be modified to the needs of each learner.
All products are made with the intention to provide access to education for all.
Each unit surrounds one book, or story in the Bible. Included are adapted books, visual aids, and sensory based, multi-purpose activities.
Free consultation services for those challenges that need extra support. We will walk with you alongside this journey, whether you’re interested in starting a ministry, want to get involved, or have a well established organization.
